Mending the Safety Net 2013 was held at Wayne County Community College District, 21000 Northline Road, Taylor, last Friday, January 25, 2013 from 8:30 am -11:30 am; around 250 professionals attended the event.  Mending the Safety Net is open each year to family service workers, hospital and school social workers, nurses, case managers, health, human services, education and/or early childhood professionals who assist families in need. Refreshments were provided by DTE Energy.

President and CEO, The Information Center, Ed D'Angelo, "We do our best to help the people who depend upon us in the community. Helping professionals, staff, and volunteers continue to be asked to do more, with less. Those who have attended this event in previous years understand what a powerful, informative and worthwhile morning this is. This is always a great opportunity for staff and volunteers to learn about the full range of helpful resources serving the downriver area and surrounding communities; across all service sectors, and there is no charge to attend! This year as in the past, we gathered agencies and organizations from virtually all service sectors. This year, with so many challenges facing families and individuals, the needs are great."
