On April 14, The Information Center, a Downriver-based nonprofit, presented Carol A. Pitchford with the honorary Adele Gantz Volunteer Appreciation Award at the organization’s annual volunteer banquet held at Hungarian Rhapsody in Southgate.

“Our volunteers are an intregal part of our organization," said Edward D’Angelo, president and CEO of The Information Center. "The Information Center could not provide the same level of community support without them. We recognize Carol A. Pitchford for her undying dedication and and continued work at The Information Center. There are not many hats she has not worn at this agency, and many would say she even invented a few of those hats. She has helped plan our annual gala fundraiser, distributed gifts to families at our holiday assistance program and was on the Board of Directors for Volunteer Resources."

After she officially retired, Carol returned to The Information Center to serve on the Board of Directors where she has filled the position of vice-chairperson of the board of directors, since 2009.

The Adele Gantz Volunteer of the Year Award is presented to a group or person who has unselfishly given their time and talents to support the community. Adele Gantz was a long term dedicated and inspiring Information Center volunteer who worked tirelessly assisting the less fortunate Downriver and in surrounding communities.
