Wayne County Commissioner Ray Basham (D-Taylor) recently honored community organization The Information Center for 40 years of service to the Downriver area.
The Taylor-based nonprofit organization provides referral and senior services to residents of southeast Michigan.
The Information Center will celebrate the 40th anniversary of its founding at its annual fundraiser gala Oct. 8 at Crystal Gardens banquet center in Southgate.
The event raises funds to allow the organization to continue to provide free services to area residents.
The celebration includes an elegant VIP reception, a three-course dinner with hors d'oeuvres and two auctions.
The event will be hosted by Downriver favorite Bill LeFevre and entertainment will be provided by The Chenille Sisters.
Tickets are available now for $100, or $125 after Oct. 1. Purchases can be made by calling 734-282-7171.
