| "I feel awful. I'm working with a woman whose only income is Social Security. She's 77 years old and has emphysema so bad she can barely talk. She is on a nebulizer, but every time she plugs it in, she's blowing circuits. I've tried every resource I can think of and no one can help her. I've called eight agencies already, and she keeps falling in between the cracks for one reason or another. How can we help her?" |

The Special Needs fund is maintained by The Information Center, and supported totally with community donations from individuals, churches, service clubs, and community organizations for the purpose of meeting local needs when no other resources exist. The fund has been used to purchase diapers, short-term hotel stays for stranded families, electric heaters to elders whose gas has been shut-off, prescriptions for sick babies without health insurance, and yes, even to install updated electrical circuits for a 77 year old lady who couldn't breathe.
For those who want to help, but who want to remain anonymous, a donation to Special Needs means helping your neighbor without being in the spotlight. You can be assured that your donation will go to help local residents, that the situation will be professionally assessed, and that other resources will be tried and exhausted before the fund is accessed. Over 100 clubs, organizations, and individuals have contributed to Special Needs this past year.
Make a difference today. Call (734) 282-7171 or make a donation online. If you or someone you know needs help, please contact us.
